Welcome to Year 5 and the beginning of upper Key Stage Two. During the morning, the children will be accessing English and mathematics learning. In addition, the children will be learning about spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG). After lunch, the children will read their books individually, access Reciprocal Reading and explore Learning Challenges. Home learning will be sent home on a Friday and it will be returned on a Wednesday. Reading books will go home daily and the children are encouraged to bring them into school daily.
In Year 5 we have individual reward systems. Stickers and certificates are rewarded for ‘Green Behaviours’ and for children using their ‘Gem Powers’. These powers and behaviours promote and encourage children to learn, get along and independent skills, along with many other personal qualities that will prepare children for life in and beyond school.
Our Class Diary will give you more information about we have been learning.
