Welcome back to the start of the new school year

15th September 2016 By markturner

Welcome to all our new starters.

How time flies! It only seems like yesterday that we were saying goodbye to our old year 6 pupils and here we are at the start of another school year!  It is great to welcome the children back after the summer break and lovely to see their smart new uniforms and how they have grown over the six weeks!  Our new Reception Class have made a fabulous start to school life and the rest of the children are settling really well into the routines of their new year groups and adjusting to the expectations of their new teachers.

We want to continue to make the school experience as enjoyable and productive as possible for all our children. Curriculum maps for each year group are available on the website and a copy will also be sent home with your child. In this way you can see the ‘Learning Challenges’ that your child will encounter this year and so you can support their learning at home. We aim to bring the ‘Learning Challenges’ to life by providing all classes with hands on learning experiences such as educational visits, residential weeks, visitors into school, and using the grounds as an outside classroom; all of which enrich and enhance the curriculum.

On behalf of the teachers can I ask you to help your children get into good habits of reading daily, completing homework set and bringing it back on time.  Your support at home really does make a difference!

Once again we look forward to another exciting and successful year at Escomb Primary School.

We’re all going on a summer holiday . . .

15th July 2016 By markturner

I am sure that you will all join with me in wishing our Year 6 children all the very best as they move to their new secondary schools—I know that they will continue to be successful! Thank you to all year 6 children for everything you have contributed to our school and for being a super Year 6! Can I also wish James B (Year 5) and James D (Year 4) all the very best for the future as they move on to new schools.

As you know we have three members of staff leaving this term (Mrs Barton, Mr Turner and Mr Salmon). We wish them well for the future and hope they come back to see us.

Thank you to all our children for coming to school, working hard and sharing their smiles and enthusiasm with us—you are fantastic! Thank you to parents and grandparents for your support throughout the year. It is the whole team ethos and approach that makes our school a special place to be.

We hope that you all have a fantastic holiday and we look forward to seeing you all back in school on Tuesday 6th September 2016.

Safer Internet Day

10th February 2016 By markturner

Tuesday 9th February was safer internet day. All classes watched and discussed film clips ‘play your part for a better internet’ based on making the internet a better and safer place. Mr Turner led an assembly this morning to reinforce these important messages. Don’t forget – E-safety workshop for parents is on Wednesday 27th April at 2.30p.m. We hope to see lots of you there!

Chinese New Year

10th February 2016 By markturner

On Monday we celebrated the start of Chinese new year with a whole school assembly. Year 6 helped me with the presentation; sharing the work they have done in class. This year we are celebrating the year of the monkey. Later in  the week Reception Class are going to share their learning with the rest of the school! They are making lanterns, cooking and tasting Chinese food and practising a dance. We are looking forward to their performance.
