Welcome to Class 4 and the end of lower Key Stage Two. English and Maths are taught every morning in our class along with spelling, handwriting and grammar activities. Children read each morning on arrival to school and participate in Reciprocal Reading group activities each week. We also read our class novel at the end of every day. Reading books will go home daily and children are encouraged to read with an adult at home. Home Learning will be sent home on Friday and should be returned by Wednesday. Spellings will also be sent home weekly.
We have an engaging and interactive curriculum. Our foundation subjects are taught through Learning Challenges which include topics about Romans and Greeks. We will also investigate electricity, digestive system and sounds as part of our Science topics.
In Year 4, children are given ‘Stars on the Bar’ as a reward for showing that they are ready to learn, on task or demonstrating good manners. We also work as a team to collect ‘Stars in the Jar’ and aim for a whole class treat if we are the class that win the most stars.
Our Class Diary will tell you more about what work we have been doing.
