Welcome to Year 5 and the beginning of upper Key Stage Two.
During the morning, children will be accessing English and Maths learning. In addition to this we will be focusing on spelling, grammar and handwriting as well as key Maths skills. In the afternoons the children will participate in reciprocal reading tasks and independent reading. We have a designated Reciprocal Reading session each week on the afternoon and one of our five English sessions is dedicated to Reading skills.Homework linked to our weekly learning will be sent home on a Friday and returned the following Wednesday. Reading books will go home daily and children are encouraged to return them each day.
In Year 5, children will be rewarded with ‘Stars on the Bar.’ Stars are awarded for good behaviour and being ready to learn. Our bars are colour coded and match our Family Groups which encourages a team effort and working for a collective group across the school. In addition to this, we can be awarded ‘Stars in the Jar’ for whole class good behaviour and being ready to learn.
Accessing our Class Diary on the website is a great way to find out more about the learning in Year 5!
