Reception Class

Welcome to Reception Class and the first stage in your child’s school life.  In the Autumn term we will be learning new routines, meeting lots of new friends, learning each others name and spending time familiarising ourselves with our indoor and outdoor learning environment.

We tailor our curriculum to your child’s interests and will adapt our planning to what the children are interested in learning about.

Your child will be following the school’s Traffic Light system. ‘Green behaviour’ is rewarded with stickers and weekly certificates that are handed out in Celebration Assembly.

We use the ‘Gem Power’ system in  school which promotes independence and problem solving.  In Reception Class we focus on the ‘Diamond Power’ which develops children’s self-sufficiency.  This includes getting dressed, putting on their coat and tidying away with as much independence that they are able to achieve.

If you want to know more about what we have been up to you can take a look at our Class Diary
