Every Friday we hold our whole school ‘Celebration Assembly’. During this assembly a range of awards and certificates are presented to children for excellent achievements and efforts in school. We also recognise the achievements of our children out of school too and children are encouraged to bring in certificates, trophies etc that recognise their unique talents.
Certificates are presented to children from each class for their achievements and efforts relating to all aspects of school life.
Star of the Week Award
A child from each class is chosen to be Star of the Week for outstanding achievement and/or effort.
The children are presented in Celebration Assembly with a special certificate and a special ‘sash’ to wear in school for the following week. An overall winner ‘Super Star of the Week’ is selected and is presented with a trophy which they keep for a week.
All Stars of the Week are posted on a noticeboard in school and published in a newsletter.
We introduced Stars in the Jar and Stars on the Bar in March 2021 on our return to school after lockdown. This runs alongside our ‘Good to be Green’ Behaviour Policy.
The aim is to promote and reward positive behaviour for learning as well as recognize excellence in the following of school rules, routines and systems. E.g. lining up, com9ing into assembly, moving around school etc
‘Stars in the Jar’ rewards whole class efforts and ‘Stars on the Bar’ is to reward individual pupils.
There is a weekly class winner for Stars in the Jar’ The winning class is rewarded with extra playtime and a trophy to keep for the week. There is also a half termly class winner.
In each class, the children with the most stars on their bars receive a certificate and there is also a half termly winner in each class.
There is a visual display in school hall and in each classroom. Children love to collect stars for their class and for themselves and it reinforces a positive attitude to learning.
At Escomb Primary School we are committed to promoting the highest levels of attendance. We present a weekly attendance award to the class with the highest percentage. This is displayed in the school hall. At the end of each term, the class with the best attendance are given a whole class reward. e.g. Climbing Wall session at Bishop Auckland College, visit to Escomb Play Area.
Attendance of individual children is also recognised at Escomb Primary School.
Children who have 100% attendance for that particular term are recognised.
100% cumulative attendance is also celebrated.
We are proud to present those children who have 100% attendance for the whole year with an award in our last assembly of the school year.
Class attendance and 100% individual attendance is reported on in our newsletters.
