Class 1 Diary (2019-20)

Spring Term

During Spring Term, we will have a brand new Learning Challenge.  Our Learning Challenge will be “Why are human no like tigers?” and “Why do you think a meerkat cannot live in the North Pole?” We will be looking at different animals and their characteristics that make them suitable for their habitats.

In English we will be looking at fairy tales, we will even be writing our own. We will also be using non-fiction texts to help us create our own guide on animals. In art we will be experimenting with colours and seeing which colours work together, while in computing we will be learning how to add sounds to a story. Lastly we will be using our dancing skills to create an animal themed dance with Ashleigh.

Autumn Term

During the first term in Year 1 we will be learning about materials through our enquiry “What materials do the three little pigs need to build a house?” and we will begin to observe the weather around us. We will also spend some time delving into our past and looking at famous people from the past and why they were famous. We are very fortunate to have Ashleigh Ross to come and teach dance to us on a Friday afternoon for the term and will look forward to learning from her. We will be learning how to be good and what the Bible teaches us about being good. PE is on a Friday and a Wednesday.
